How Can I Make Activity Part of My Day?
- Use the stairs over the lift – 50 calories are burned using the stairs over a five minute period!
- Stretch and move around at least once every hour
; - Keep a pair of trainers or comfortable shoes in the office so you'll never have an excuse not to venture out for a walk;
- Set yourself a goal of the month/week. This could be anything from ‘I will walk two lunchtimes a week’ or ‘I will add 30 minutes on to my exercise time every week for a month;’
- Management in motion - not all meetings have to take place in the boardroom and if you can, take a walking meeting outside;
- Make the most of meal/rest breaks – even if it’s a 10 minute walk to stretch the legs;
- Take advantage of local leisure and community facilities, either before work at lunchtime or straight after work;

- Follow the eight glasses of water a day ethos along with five fruit and veg a day!
