Swimming offers a great activity for the whole family to enjoy and it won’t break the bank – at least the children will go free! And if grandparents 60 years-old and over accompany their grandchildren swimming then it won’t cost you anything, as the over 60s go free as well! Worth remembering - especially as there will be plenty of grandparents looking after their little ones during the school holidays.

Many of the local authority swimming pools offer family sessions so it’s worth contacting your local leisure centre to see what’s taking place.

Some leisure centres make it very easy for families with family changing facilities and even pram shelters are being installed in some changing rooms to provide increased security for prams/pushchairs while you swim.

All children under eight must be accompanied by an adult. The admission policy varies across local authorities so it’s best to contact your local swimming pool if you have more than one child under eight to check the ratio per adult.
