A progressive approach to teaching gymnastics in a safe, fun and simple process. Module 1 is currently being updated to fall in line with the new Foundation Phase, Module 2 courses and resources continue to be rolled out and Module 3 & 4 are currently under development
A simple and effective approach to delivering HFW through all aspects of PE and PSE. The primary and secondary courses and resources are currently being rolled out to all schools. Health Fitness and Wellbeing is replacing the existing Health Related Exercise course. HFW update documents for August 2008 can be found here.
Courses and resources (website, cards and audio CD) for Key Stage 2 teachers are now available and being rolled out. Dance for the Foundation phase and KS3 are currently under development and should be available this academic year. Additionally, courses for teacher mentors and dance practitioners are currently being rolled out along with a series of good practice workshops for teachers through partnership with Community Dance Wales.
ICT in PE
2 successful conferences have run providing teachers with skills and practical ideas for integrating ICT into PE. A continuum of progressive use of ICT in PE has been developed and will be supported through a series of workshops which will be made available through further conferences. A transition project putting the continuum in practice is being launched in Monmouthshire in April 2007,
A three day accredited series of workshops have been developed to support this area. Due to difficulties and time restraints this package is now being offered as a one day course with the second and third days available to delegates that wish to take the whole package and gain the qualification. A DVD has been produced that sits with this course.
The one day course will be available from January 2010.
In the ZoneA training course and interactive resource aimed at mid-day supervisors will ensure effective management of the school playground.
This is a new project being developed in partnership with the outdoor education advisors group for Wales. The OEAP have developed Outdoor Learning cards that are currently being rolled out into primary and secondary schools with a one day training course for teachers.
The Foundation Phase Framework for Children’s Learning for 3-7 year-olds in Wales becomes a legal requirement by means of an Order made by the Welsh Assembly Government for Wales and comes into effect in September 2008 for all 3-4 year-olds.
