Equity
Equity is about recognising and removing the barriers faced by people involved, or wanting to be involved, in sport. It is about changing the culture of sport to one that values diversity and enables the full involvement of disadvantaged groups in every aspect of sport.
The Sports Council for Wales is committed to the principles of safety and equity within sport and works to ensure that all people and all communities have access to sport within a safe environment.
The Sports Council for Wales embraces diversity and this is reflected in the Council as:
- a funding organisation;
- a service provider;
- an employer.
The Sports Council for Wales is committed to Equity in sport and has been involved in the production of "The Equality Standard: A Framework for Sport" The standard is made up of 4 levels and is the framework to which all Governing Bodies of Sport large and small should guide their organisation. Many sports in Wales have already successfully achieved the standard.
The Sports Council for Wales developed and supported a number of specific projects and initiatives to target under represented groups in sport.
- Women and Girls
- Federation of Disability Sport Wales
- Young People
- Ethnic Minority Groups
- Socially Disadvantaged Groups
